Since the end of the year is upon us, we would like to look back at all the amazing things that have happened in the past 12 months. Much has happened for Alpensee as a team and for our members individually, so let’s recap:
Alpensee Limitless Tours
When we found ourselves in dire need of some high-quality practice in April, we decided to take matters into our own hands and started hosting our weekly limitless tours! We are so happy to see that what started as a somewhat self-serving project has grown into such a well-received part of the VGC community. Our tours have been regularly getting over 64 entrants, with a highlight being our shiny bike give-away tour, which even hit the 128 player cap.

I personally realised just how big our tours were, when i sat down for Round 1 at the Stuttgart Regional Championships last month and heard a player at the table next to me mention how he had been using our tours to test his team for the regional.
Thank you all for playing, here’s to many more Alpensee Wednesdays in 2026!
Launch of the Alpensee Website
If you’re reading this, then of course you already know about this next part! We launched our very own website with player profiles, articles and links to our socials. Speaking of which: We also increased our social media presence! We started posting on Instagram, streaming on Twitch and uploading videos to YouTube.

My own personal social-media related highlight was editing a friendly match between our VG casters Shonatron and Shmon, who each narrated their side of the game. You can check it out on our YouTube channel!
VGC Achievements
The heart of a team is its players! Listing everyone’s achievements could fill a book, so here are some highlights:
Four of our players qualified for the 2025 Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim! Choc, Ryo, Finabas and Sela represented us in the golden state at the year’s most important tournament.

A highlight from the regular season was Baked with a Top 8 in Frankfurt, where he went 11-1 in Swiss, winning against tournament winner Emanuele Briganti on stream. It took 2023 World Champion Shohei Kimura to knock him out of the tournament. Another was our captain Sela getting a Top 16 in Birmingham after an undefeated run through Day 1.
Eleven of our players got to represent their country in the World Cup of VGC across Teams Germany, Belgium and Austria.

Even more impressive though is the improvement across the board, with lots of first Day 2s and Top 32/Top 64 placements. It feels like any of our players could have their break out performance at the next regional and we can’t wait to cheer them on!
Teambuilding Highlights
Making connections and forging bonds is what Pokémon is all about! We are not just teammates who get together once a month at a tournament, we are friends who support each other in every aspect of life. Even if there are hundreds of miles between us, we are still there for one another.

In the run up to the World Championships we had our own little Alpensee Worlds Bootcamp, where we built a team and practiced until late at night, all under the motto “Barrage until the cows come home” (hence the Miltank cards).

While our players were away in Anaheim, we supported them from back home with a multi-day Worlds watch-party. It was made all the better by being able to watch our very own Shmon casting on the Victory Road side-stream.

2025: The Year It All Started
2025 feel like the year that it all kicked off. Alpensee eSports e.V. is now an official organisation and we are looking to grow even more in 2026. We have a lot of good things in store for you, so stay tuned!
For now we wish you a happy new year. We’re looking forward to 2026 and hope to see you all there!
